Solomon Recipes

I started this blog so I could pass along family recipes to my children. Most of these recipes are Eaton recipes.

But, no need to share the last name Solomon. The majority of the recipes are made by me, Mother Goose, my Sister in law, Gretchen and two friends Leta and HK. If you would like to be a contributor, just holla!

Mama Dora’s Sour Cream Pound Cake

This is the only pound cake that my husband loves. It his the recipe that his mother has made for years and it is scrumptious! It is sweet, and buttery and has a light crystalized crust! It's just perfect and I take delight in sharing it with you. SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE 6 eggs 3 cups sugar 2 sticks softened butter 8 oz. sour cream 1 TBL sp. vanilla 3 cups self rising flour Add butter and sugar cream together, mix in each egg, add vanilla and sour cream, then stir in flour until well blended. Batter will be thick. My husband had just added all of the ingredients at once and it still came out great. So, this must be a fool proof recipe, which is one more reason why I love it! Enjoy Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until center is cooked all the way through.
***I do not know if I omitted a few ingredients and I dont Have my mother in law to verify anymore. So these are the changes I added
1/4 tsp salt
1/4tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp almond extract
IT CAME OUT PERFECTLY **+ I also greased the pan liberally and sprinkled all sides with sugar you can use flour as well. Sugar gave the entire cake a beautiful crisp buttery crust!***This took 1hr 35 min to bake
As I made this family recipe it was nostalgic to know I was using her measuring spoons, cups, flour and sugar containers and even her mexican vanilla and baked it in her pampered chef Bundt pan! My daughter in law has her kitchen aid stand mixer. I wonder if my children will be sentimental like me. When my grandmother passed I got her cooking utensils and holder.

I made fresh whipped cream and strawberries and drizzled with chocolate.

Anything with sour cream in it has to be good!

Well I just made it but had to substitute softened shortening instead of butter, I didn't have any. So we will see how it turns out, but the batter taste AMAZING.
